Epic Team Attends EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
Why are these guys smiling? Because they’re representing Epic at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. L-R: Tyren Wilson, Mike Thompson, and Brock Rees made the rounds to visit with our aviation partners, alumni, and future students. If you’ve never been to Oshkosh, mark your calendar for next year! There’s nothing like it.
New Flight Students
Welcome to our newest class of Epic pilots! These flight students arrived last month and are already making great strides in their flight training. Epic trains pilots from all around the U.S. and more than 80 countries. We’d love to welcome you!
Aircraft Mechanic Accomplishments
Congratulations to aircraft mechanic students Gavin Deitz and Scott Cavato for passing both the FAA General Knowledge exam and the Airframe exam on their first attempt. Both are excelling in their studies and are now working on their Powerplant certifications. It takes 19 months to complete the full program to become an FAA-certified A&P mechanic, Gavin and Scott will soon be graduating!
Representatives from PSA Airlines will host an Aircraft Mechanic Career Seminar at Epic on August 11th. Join us and learn about these exciting career opportunities.
Career Fair
Jon Luck, Career Development Coordinator, met with community members at the Career Fair hosted by the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce and the Southeast Volusia Manufacturing and Technology Coalition. We are happy to bring Epic to your school or community event.
Summer Fun
Epic students and staff know how to work hard, and we also know how to have a good time! Everyone had a great time cooling off at Daytona Lagoon Waterpark. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and are glad to share some fun in the sun and make lasting memories of your time at Epic!
August Special for International Flight Students
Are you thinking about attending flight school with a friend? International flight students receive a special discount when they enroll with a friend. In August, we are offering a “Bring a Friend to Flight School” Special when you enroll with a friend. Both students will receive a $5,000 credit and free Private Pilot Ground School.
International students who enroll with a friend, with both paying their application fees between August 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022, are eligible for this special. You must enroll and begin training no later than December 1, 2022.
Epic Alumni News
We are so proud of Epic graduate Melissa Pastor who has just become a First Officer for Southwest Airlines. Melissa came to Epic from Colombia and worked hard to earn her PPL, IR, CSEL, CFI, and CFII. When you fly Southwest, check the flight deck for Melissa, and show her some LUV! Congratulations, Melissa! We are so proud of you!

Check out new hires and new positions! Epic flight instructor Ray Altmann was recently promoted to Commercial Pilot Course Leader. We also welcomed Calvin Grimes to oversee maintenance at Epic housing and Nico Brunetti to dispatch. Epic also recently hired flight instructors George Cooper, Simer Atwal, Justine Smickle, Matthew Rippy, Anu Mobile, Kendra Piros, Sam Maner, Jacob Long, Luke Minto, and Abdiel Rosado.
