Why was the FEAM Sponsorship Program started?

Recruitment and retention of qualified Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) technicians is a global issue.

According to research by Oliver Wyman, the pain from the shortage will affect everyone in the industry from the smallest MRO to the largest airline. Still, no matter the size of the shortage, independent MROs and regional airlines will likely feel the effects the most.

By 2027 — projected to be the worst year for the shortage — the bleakest scenario has the supply deficit at more than 48,000 aircraft maintenance workers, or a shortfall of about 27%. Our more likely scenario predicts a gap of almost 43,000, or more than 24%.

FEAM CSO Dan Allawat put it this way: “We are excited to work with Epic Flight Academy. They demonstrate the high level of professionalism and quality of training FEAM is looking for. Our growth plan to support the field of aviation requires hundreds of highly skilled mechanics. The program we are offering through Epic will allow aspiring mechanics to enter the aviation field and help the industry grow.”
