Groundbreaking Ceremony in Kentucky

The sky was overcast, but the gold shovels glinted and hard hat-wearing Epic staff members grinned during the groundbreaking at CVG. In a partnership with FEAM Aero, Epic broke ground at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport last month for the construction of a new aircraft mechanic school. The building will have 32,290 square feet of space and 278 parking spaces. We expect to enroll our first class in spring 2024 and are already accepting applications. Pictured L-R: Josh Rawlins, Keith Bateman, Danny Perna, Tanya Catalo, and Jon Luck.

This artist rendering shows the exterior and parking area of the new aircraft mechanic training facility. The hangar will have direct access to CVG taxiways. In addition to the hangar/training area, the building will have 10 classrooms, a library, break rooms, cafeteria, and 6 offices.

Aircraft Mechanic Open House in NSB

Our next aircraft mechanic class begins on May 22nd, so we’re hosting an Open House on Friday, May 5th from 5 pm to 8 pm in New Smyrna Beach. We invite you to stop by to meet staff, tour the facility, and learn about the program and career opportunities.

New Flight Students

April brought an eager class of flight students to the New Smyrna Beach campus (pictured) and the Ocala and Tallahassee campuses. Our instructors are busier than ever and report the students are making great progress.

Astronauts Memorial Foundation Scholarship Award

Congratulations to Kyle Hunt (center) for receiving a $30,000 Epic aircraft mechanic scholarship from The Astronauts Memorial Foundation last month! Epic team members Stephanie Babian and Jon Clark presented the award at the Annual Career and Networking Event, which attracted more than 1,000 students to the Center for Space Education at Kennedy Space Center.

Jack and Jill Field Trip

Members of the Daytona Beach Area Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, with assistance from the Daytona Beach Chapter of Black Pilots of America, toured our New Smyrna Beach campus last month. We love these visits from future aviators and invite groups to plan a field trip with us.

Epic Staff Traveling for Outreach

In April, the Epic team was back on the road visiting schools and career expos. Tyren Wilson traveled the farthest, making a special reunion visit to his own high school in Cambridge, Maryland. We appreciate our staff members’ efforts to share Epic so widely.

Alumni News

We love catching up with our graduates! Mohammed Almosaind is a First Officer at Flynas where he flies the A320-251. He shared this wonderful message: “I would say I made the right choice doing my training with you guys back in 2019. Epic offers a lot of opportunities and gives the required support and experience to the students to fulfill their dreams of becoming professional and successful pilots.”

Seth Hattaway took time from his busy schedule as a pilot at Endeavor Air to come by the groundbreaking ceremony at CVG. Seth not only trained at Epic, he was also a flight instructor here. CEO Danny Perna and COO Josh Rawlins were thrilled to catch up with him.

We’re also happy to report that Tyler Rokosny has completed his A320/321 type rating for JetBlue and will soon be flying out of Newark’s brand new Terminal A. We invite our graduates to send us an update and keep in touch!

Epic Staff News

Epic welcomed nine new flight instructors last month: Jonathan Shumaker, Alexander Corkery, Kassy Batt, Su Cildir, Carlos Cabrera, Davis Pittenger, Francesca Daly, Hunter Larkin, and Ryan Groel, who began his flight training at Epic when he was still in high school. Greg Sheppard is our new dispatcher in Tallahassee, and Dana McGowen is our new dispatcher in Ocala. We also congratulate Haley Konfrst on her new position as Recruitment Inquiry Manager. What a great team!
