Simulator Enhances Flight Training

Epic Flight Academy worked with Frasca to develop its Private Pilot Course to include full-motion simulator training. The goal was to save students time and money. In fact, Flying Magazine and AOPA recently shared the success of the course. Epic students have also weighed in, including Steve Ramroop:

“My experience with the Frasca full-motion simulator has been an excellent one. By properly utilizing this flight training tool, I was able to accomplish my first solo faster and obtain my Private Pilot License within the suggested time and close to the suggested budget. I look forward to continuing my training with its help.”

Epic Staff News

We are happy to welcome Juan Malagon and Eric Brathwaite to the Epic team! 

Juan is originally from Colombia. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, serving stateside and in Afghanistan with the Army. Juan is our newest dispatcher.

Eric is a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Signal Corps. After leaving the military, he worked as an A&P for major airlines, such as US Airways Express and Continental Express. Eric is the newest instructor in Epic’s Aircraft Mechanic Program.

Captain Judy’s Corner

See an interview with ground school instructor Captain Judy Rice where she discusses how she became a pilot and talks about an upcoming book project, 101 Trailblazing Women of Air and Space: Aviators and Astronauts. Judy has written the foreword for the book, which will be available August 24th.

Alumni News

Congratulations to Juan Posada. Juan came to Epic from Colombia to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a pilot.

“Epic helped me because I got the chance to experience a great fleet with state-of-the-art avionics. I also got to experience flying with students from all over the world, which was great.”

Juan is now a First Officer for Viva Air. We are proud of his hard work and accomplishments!

We recently enjoyed a visit from Epic graduates Maria Paula Támara Mendivelso and Juan Sebastián Ramirez. The two met while training at Epic and are now flying as First Officers flying the A320 for Avianca Airlines. Watch this video recently shared by Avianca! They are now engaged to be married. Wishing you both blue skies and happy landings! Come visit again soon!

Congratulations to Epic graduate Brayan Valencia who not only trained at Epic, he worked here as a flight instructor. He is now a Captain flying for Republic Airways. Way to go, Brayan! Come visit!

Student & Staff Appreciation Day

Students and staff enjoyed a delicious lunch from 3 food trucks on our Appreciation Day last month. We really do appreciate our Epic family and enjoy the opportunity to take a break and visit with each other.
