Seminole State College Program for Pilots

Epic’s partnership with Seminole State College of Florida (SSC) offers benefits to our flight school students who are interested in advancing their aviation career by earning a college degree. Epic flight training can can be applied towards an Associate in Arts Degree or any other degree or certificate at Seminole State College of Florida in which the credits can be used. Credit hours are awarded based on earned FAA licenses and ratings.

Seminole State College of Florida will articulate up to 27 credits – subject to change based on yearly curriculum review – for Epic Flight Academy graduates holding (FAA) Certified Licenses: Private Pilot (PPL), Instrument (IR), Commercial Single-Engine (CSEL), Commercial Multi- Engine (CMEL), Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or, in lieu of the Commercial Multi-Engine, Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFI-I). A maximum of 24 articulated credits may be applied towards the elective requirements of the Associate in Arts degree.

4 Steps for Students:

Follow these steps to receive college credits at Seminole State College of Florida for your Epic Flight Academy pilot training:

  2. 2. Complete an admissions application to Seminole State College of Florida.

    Visit the SSC website to enroll. Meet all entrance requirements, including appropriate placement and course prerequisite requirements of the college. You will need a minimum GPA of 2.5, and you may be required to take a placement test. SSC will notify you of your acceptance. You must complete a minimum of 25% of the coursework required for your selected degree program requirements at Seminole State College of Florida.

  3. 3. Complete a Request for Articulated Credit.

    Submit the completed form to the Educational Advisor with the documentation listed in the next step.

  4. 4. Submit aviation credentials.

    Along with the Request for Articulated Credit, provide a copy of FAA licenses/certificates, a copy of the FAA Airmen Inquiry report, and original transcripts from Epic Flight Academy to the Educational Advisor. Allow 10 business days for the decision fro SSC.

A: Yes, Seminole State offers Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees in the following areas: Arts, Humanities, Communication & Design; Business; Education; Health Sciences Industry; Manufacturing and Construction; Public Safety; and Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. SSC also offers four-year Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degrees.

A: Yes, SSC offers online degrees with courses offered 100% online. SSC offers three academic terms with classes in fall, spring, and summer. Online courses offer flexibility for those with a busy schedule. The bookstore is even online.

Q: Is Seminole State College a Division 1 school?

A: Yes, SSC is D1 – National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The college competes in five Division I sports: baseball, softball, men’s and women’s cross country, and women’s golf. The Raiders also participate in the Florida College System Activities Association’s (FCSAA) Mid-Florida Conference (MFC). SSC offers football and other sports activities recreationally.
