Ray Altmann was born in Chicago, Illinois, but grew up in Southwest Florida. He graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2013 and was certified by the Florida Department of Education. Ray spent 5 years as a professional educator in both the public and private sectors. He is the educational developer for Epic Flight Academy and a flight instructor. Additionally, Ray is the Commercial Course Leader and oversees all commercial single and multi-engine students and instructors. In addition to being the Commercial Course Leader, he is also Epic Flight Academy’s System Administrator for the online learning management platform, Schoology. He assists in the development of educational materials, such as flight training videos and online learning modules.
Ray trained and earned his Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Single-Engine and Multi-Engine licenses, CFI, and CFII ratings at Epic. The combination of Ray’s teaching experience and pilot training has given Ray a unique insight of the challenges and achievements Epic students face while on the path to becoming professional pilots. He takes these experiences into consideration as he further develops Epic’s flight instruction methodology and while teaching students both on the ground and in the air.
