I understand that having diabetes disqualifies you from obtaining a first and second class medical certificate, therefore barring you from becoming a professional pilot. I did some research and I wanted to know if it was accurate. I read that it was still possible to obtain a third class medical certificate despite having diabetes. I’m looking to get my Private Pilot’s License, and technically I only need the third class to obtain my license, but I have diabetes, and I manage it well in my opinion. I just wanted to know if trying for my private pilot’s license was something possible for me.
