New Smyrna Beach, FL – Epic student Shelby Gilmer is just 12 years old. She took her first flight lesson at Epic back in September. Tim Melger, her flight instructor, has high praise for Shelby’s ability to learn quickly.
Shelby’s flying career was recently featured in the Smyrna Breeze and captured the young aviatrix’s passion for flying. Epic CEO Danny Perna said, “Everyone loves to see her show up for her flying lessons. She has so much enthusiasm and determination. We are really proud of her.”
Shelby has already flown several cross-country flights to Fort Lauderdale, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville. She flies a 2003 Cessna 172 S model and will be eligible to fly solo when she turns 16. Epic is proud of this confident young student and the impact she has had on other flight students.
