New Smyrna Beach, FL – Epic Flight Academy announces its sponsorship of a new aviation book, 101 Trailblazing Women of Air and Space: Aviators and Astronauts. Dr. Penny Rafferty Hamilton authored the nonfiction work, which is a pictorial history of women in aviation. The book features more than 100 photos of female aviators and astronauts from around the world.

“Epic has always supported women in aviation,” said Danny Perna, Epic founder and CEO. “We have trained thousands of female pilots and employ many women flight instructors. When we heard about Dr. Hamilton’s new initiative, we wanted to be involved. It was a privilege to sponsor such an important historical book. All of the subjects, from the early days of aviation to the present, are inspirational in their own right, including Captain Judy Rice. Captain Judy holds world records in aviation. She has flown around the world on an educational mission, and serves as Epic’s ground school instructor.”

“We carefully selected 101 women whose accomplishments in the world of aviation and space will amaze, delight, and inspire everyone who turns these pages,” said author Penny Hamilton. “Each trailblazer is illustrated with their photograph or aircraft, ranging from the very early planes that were no more than sticks, canvas, and spruce wood wired together to our modern metal aircraft and space equipment. We chose trailblazers from around the globe.”

The book is now available from Amazon and other outlets. Captain Judy Rice, Epic’s ground school instructor, wrote the foreword for the book. She will be signing copies at Epic’s 6th Annual Aviation Scholarship event on November 6th. Also, Dr. Hamilton will donate a portion of the proceeds to programs supporting young women in STEM.
