Rusty D. Hubbard began his aviation career at 17 when he joined the Air Force right out of high school. He was assigned to work on C-130 aircraft. After 10 years of active duty and 2 years of reserve duty working on A-10 aircraft, Rusty separated from the Air Force in July 1991 and was hired by FedEx Express. He started working on B-727 aircraft, and as the company expanded its fleet, he had the opportunity to work on DC-10s, MD-11s, and Airbus A300-600s. Twenty years later, when the B-727 was retired, he began working on B-757s, B-767s, and B-777s. After 32 years at FedEx, Rusty retired and took a position at a small charter company, where he worked on aircraft including Cessna 172s, Beechjet 400s, 550s, and 650s, as well as Hawker 800s and Falcon 2000s.
In August 2023, Rusty retired again. While he initially thought he was ready to step away, he soon realized he missed being around aircraft. When he came across the position with Epic Flight Academy, he became interested in exploring this side of aircraft maintenance. Rusty looks forward to learning and contributing to the team.
