Austin DiCola never expected to find himself in aviation. During his college years pursuing degrees in anthropology and Asian studies, his dream was to instead travel to far-away places to be immersed in cultures other than his own. He did just that, from 2017 to 2019, when he joined the Peace Corps and taught English to university students in China’s beautiful Guizhou province. As his two-year Peace Corps service came to a close, he wanted to transfer his teaching experience toward something more technical and hands-on. Whether flying city to city for his teaching job or visiting countries like Myanmar, Austin always found the flight to be just as exciting as the destination. Because of this, Austin looked into flying as a career and took the leap. It was a choice he remains thankful for today.
