ParticipantHi everyone,
I’m considering enrolling at your school for my Instrument Rating and Commercial Pilot training, and I’d really appreciate some guidance on how my previous flight experience would be handled.
I’ve already accumulated a number of hours recreationally in both Japan and the U.S., including cross‑country time (greater than 50NM) and some basic under‑the‑hood simulated instrument time (not approaches or procedures). My question is: would these hours be eligible to count toward the FAA aeronautical experience requirements for the IR and CPL when I begin training with you?
I also wanted to ask about the written exams. If I’ve already completed the FAA IR and CPL knowledge tests before enrolling, would I still be required to attend the full ground school portion of the Part 141 curriculum?
My understanding is that to graduate under Part 141, I would need to complete the full approved syllabus. But since I already have some hours that meet FAA Part 61 experience requirements, I’m wondering whether it would be possible to complete the program under Part 61 instead, or whether the school allows a hybrid approach depending on the student’s background.
Any guidance or clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
