Why is indicated airspeed lower than my groundspeed?

    #101561 Reply

    Hi!

Indicated airspeed is lower than groundspeed when there is a tailwind pushing the aircraft forward, increasing its speed over the ground without affecting the airspeed shown on the instruments. Indicated airspeed measures the aircraft’s speed relative to the surrounding air, not the ground.

I hope you find this helpful!

    Thank you!
