GI Bill Veterans

“We are Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) Benefits & Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill®) Approved”

Epic Flight Academy is an approved flight school for veterans that provides superior pilot training at our FAA-accredited flight training institution. Currently, however, the G.I. Bill® is not supporting flight training.

Description of Benefits

G.I. Bill® benefits allow military veterans the opportunity to be able to learn to fly in pursuit of a new vocation, such as commercial airline pilot. In order for a military vet to be able to train to become a pilot, the flight school has to be approved by the VA. If the pilot training facility is already VA approved, then all the military vet needs to do is simply request more information. Once they choose a flight school, vets enroll and begin flight training.

Veteran military pilots can also enroll with our FAA flight school. This allows the veteran to “transfer” some of their military training hours over as credit counted towards their flight training hours and FAA regulations that they may fly under.

Montgomery G.I. Bill®

Typically, the Montgomery G.I. Bill® covers upwards of 60% of flight school curriculum for veterans to earn their Private Pilot License (PPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Commercial Pilot License (CPL). The Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® is based off of time in service and can be calculated and confirmed by calling your VA Regional office. However, G.I. benefits have been evolving recently.

If you are a military veteran and would like to start a career as a professional pilot, please contact us for more information on how you can become a pilot. We are here to assist you with answering any questions or concerns you may have- general questions, application/enrollment assistance, GI Bill® questions, etc. The process of using VA benefits for flight school can be quite complex and confusing. Therefore, we will continue to update this page as we learn more.

  1. I am trying to use the last 9 months of the post 9/11 gI Bill to finish up flying. I have 9 months to use as I had used my veap. I only have my private and some instrument flight time from a long time ago. Is there any way to do the course on line and flying from a school in Fargo as the nearest Veteran School is 90 miles away and I am trying to fly around my work schedule
